Whey Protein

Whey protein:  Fast-acting with high biological value, whey protein amino acids can result in amino acids being used forisopure glucose manufacture – causing only a small percentage to be used for muscle repair and growth.

So while whey protein stimulates protein synthesis and strengthens your immune system, the quick release of its amino acids may prevent whey protein from being effective at preventing muscle wasting over a prolonged period of time.  For that reason, whey protein is best used only immediately following your training, when your body needs protein as quickly as possible.

Most whey protein amino acids release within forty-five minutes to one hour.  Therefore a blended protein (a blend of several different types of proteins) would serve well as a meal replacement.
