Lighten up your recipes

Have a favorite “Go to” recipe you want to make healthier? Even making a few adjustments will lighten up some ofrecipes your favorites and still keep cooking for your family easy!

Here are a few examples:

  • When making tacos substitute lean ground chicken or lean ground turkey for the traditional ground beef. You can also find reduced sodium taco seasoning that is just as tasty but better for you.
  • Pot Roast is a meal many people make but the roast is loaded with fat. Try using a lean pork loin instead of beef chuck roast.  The pork still takes on a great flavor but the calorie & fat intake is significantly less.
  • If your kids are into sloppy joes lean ground turkey takes the place of beef and doesn’t sacrifice any of the taste. You can also serve them on a whole wheat sandwich thin or whole wheat slider bun and still enjoy this easy dish.

Even making minor adjustments here and there can make an impact on your heath and get you closer to your health and fitness goals!
